Soul Mates.

Two words that separately describe one and two. Everyone had a soul and our goal in life is to find a mate.

1+1 =2 and somehow its never as simple as a math problem.

We grow up learning about fairytales and happily ever after, but we never get to see what happens after the credits roll.

There is always that unspoken aftermath.

Everyday we get older, we fall in and out of love. Some do it more often than others, and some run from it their whole lives, in order to save their heart from all the hurting. Some learn early on that protecting your heart isn’t worth it, and some take a little bit longer to figure it out. There are so many beautiful things that hurt us, but without that hurt we never really get to experience the fullness, that is the good.

Everyone has their different definitions of a soul mate.

Some believe that its a person that when you see them for the first time you just know. Some believe that feeling develops over time, and the more time you spend with them, the passion for them grows and you become soulmates.

The next question is though, are soul mates always going to be like fairytales? Will you have perfect days till the end of time? No. That’s not how life works, and frankly that would be a boring existence, and there would probably be less art and less music, because happy people just don’t create the same kind of art. Unfortunately thats true, but some of the art that comes from pain, is the most beautiful thing you will ever experience, and we have to respect that.

Someone once told me that “you cannot help who you fall in love with, but you can help to stay in love with them.”

I believe that is the key. I believe in soul mates. I believe in love at first sight. I believe that their is a person out there who I will look at and just know. But thats the crazy thing about soul mates, sometimes they take time to find their way. And sometimes life decides that you get to know each other only for a little bit, but then you have to go off and grow on your own before you get to spend the rest of your days working at your love. So much happens in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year. and all of those things add up to be your life. So while we are all looking for soul mates, we can’t forget the first half of it. We need to nourish our souls, on our own before we can find a mate to share it with. Your soul mate is going to fall in love with your soul, so make sure you’ve done all you can to fill it with goodness, and experience, and stories. You’ll want to tell your soulmate all about them.
