Nashville!
So here I was, finally 21. Finally able to walk into a bar without worrying about whether my fake ID with not my face on it was going to work. My friend and I had planned my 21st birthday trip a few weeks in advance and we decided on the wonderful Nashville as our destination.
Somewhere in between it being a trip with just me and my friend, we somehow added her two brothers and their two friends to the mix. All guys of course. We were in for an interesting vacation.
We got in the car and headed for the country music capital. 13 hours in a car and we would finally arrive at our destination. It was filled with a terrible attempt at the license plate game and some trivia that I'm pretty sure was entirely about Disney.
We arrived at our Air BnB in the late afternoon and were greeted by a dead bird on the "hello" welcome mat. This was a great way to start off the trip...
We got inside claimed our beds and then cracked open the case of beer that had been on ice in the back of the truck.
Now to be honest, I don't really remember much from this night except that I stubbed my toe quite badly on the sidewalk and did an unnecessary amount of bleeding. Fast forward to an hour or so later and our other trip members had finally arrived. We were ready to party.
The next day I woke up to my name being yelled "SAMMMMM" I'm not entirely sure how this happened, but it stuck throughout the entire time we were there. We got up made bagels and drank beer at the ungodly hour of 7am. I'm not one for beer ever, but with this group there was no way I was going to make it 6 days trying to play catch up with vodka sodas. So I suffered through some Budlight.
I think we hung out most of the day, and finally got our asses out of the house at like 3. We were headed downtown where all the actual fun was happening. For some reason, our dumb asses decided that we were going to walk the THREE miles to downtown instead of taking an uber. With the buzz it wasn't too bad when we first started out, but by the middle of the walk with the blistering sun beating down on us, it was a choice we soon regretted.
Finally arrived in downtown and there were people everywhere, and live music playing from everywhere. I was in heaven. It was perfect. We mingled our way through rooftop bars and non rooftop bars, and finally ended up in this place that was air conditioned and full of line dancing. The boys were exhausted and they needed to perk up, they were killing the vibe and they were the ones that were telling me that I wasn't going to be able to keep up with them. Yeah, right.
After a while we got bored and braced ourselves for the outdoors. We kept walking and happened upon Coyote Ugly, which to be honest will be the most entertaining parts of this entire trip.
We walked in to a pretty dead bar at the time and were immediately immersed into the atmosphere and before we knew it we were doing shots and dancing on the bar. It was 40 dollar body shots all around. Let's just say I got very close to my friends brothers and their friends pretty quickly. It was a world wind of watered down Patron and Jagerbombs. We ended up spending way too much money but had so much fun.
We ended up going back again to Coyote Ugly, and our favorite bartender was there, seriously had the hugest girl crush on her, not going to lie. If you are ever in the Nashville Area during CMT fest I highly recommend you check it out, but make sure to leave all your inhibitions at the door, or it will most definitely not be worth your time. Live a little, and leave no photo evidence, and most definitely do not send the video you took to your boyfriend..not that I'm saying that from experience or anything...
At the end of the night we headed back and some how found a ride home.
The next day was a low key day and my friend and I took a trip to the Bluebird Cafe which is featured in one of our favorite tv shows Nashville (holla at CMT for bringing it back) We took pictures and then headed back to our Air BnB to figure out what the rest of the day's plan was.
Long story short, we ended up at Goodwill picking out outfits for everyone to wear out to the bar that night. I have to be honest it was not a pretty sight, we were all pretty much out to make sure everyone looked like they just escaped from somewhere. There was bonnets, and cat shirts, and Foxy Tees galore, and nothing was better than one of the boy's purses (which he totally rocked to be honest) I have never laughed so much in my life. Even though we never did make it out of the house I'd have to say that was one of my favorite nights of that trip. Everyone together hysterically laughing and runway walking to the song of our choosing will always be one of my fondest memories.
This trip is something I will always remember, and it just goes to show that you may not know people at the start of something, but they can turn out to be some pretty incredible people that you get to keep in your life. Always say yes to adventures and always always be open to new experiences. Make the best of every situation and find fun in even the simplest of things, and I promise you will find that you are much luckier than you thought.
Thanks Nashville for some pretty great stories, especially the ones I can't share with anyone except that people that were on the trip ;)
